We look after the health needs of around 194,000 people across North Kirklees, which is made up of a number of towns and villages including Dewsbury, Batley, Mirfield, Cleckheaton, Birstall and Liversedge.
Health issues
Our CCG faces some challenging health issues in the North Kirklees population. These are:
- By 2030 20% of our population will be over 65
- Infant death rates – they’re reducing, but still too high
- Smoking related illness
- Obesity and lack of physical activity – especially amongst children
- Dewsbury – 1 in 3 adults have a long term illness.
You can find more information about current and future health and care needs in the Kirklees Joint Strategic Assessment.
