NHS North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group would like to invite you to an event to help identify and discuss the needs of local people, particularly those needs that are not currently being met.
The event will be held on:
Wednesday 25th September 2013
9.30am – 12.30pm (or 2.30pm)
Batley Town Hall, Market Place, Batley, WF17 5DA
We want to make sure that patients and the public have the opportunity to influence our priorities as a commissioning organisation and ensure that we are meeting our duties under the Equality Act 2010. The areas we will be focussing on are:
- Better health outcomes for all
- Improved patient access and experience
With your help, and using a tool designed by the Department of Health called the Equality Delivery System*, we will measure our equality performance to help us drive equality improvements and strengthen the accountability of services to patients and the public. Refreshments will be provided and travel expenses reimbursed. Please complete and return the form attached with your details so we can book you a place at the event.

Discussion groups – looking at service developments
As well as working on the Equality Delivery System perhaps you would be willing to stay and take part in a discussion group? This would be your chance to shape plans to develop specific local services.
If you are able to do this, we would provide lunch for you after the morning event, and run discussion groups from 1 – 2.30pm.
The four areas we want the discussion groups to look at are:
- Safe, healthy pregnancy
- Care of patients with mental health problems who need treatment at Dewsbury District, Pinderfields or Pontefract hospitals (i.e. The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust)
- Care closer to home
- Integrated 24/7 urgent care
We will also bring the discussion groups up to date with developments following the ‘Meeting the Challenge’ consultation.
We very much hope you will be able to stay for the extra session, and if so, please could you let us know which of the four areas you are most interested in.
