Right time, right place?

NHS North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group wants to know if its plans for holding Governing Body meetings in public are working, or if there’s a better way for local people to be involved  with its work.

Even as a shadow organisation, the CCG said that it would be open about its work and decision-making and be visible to people in the North Kirklees patch. So far it’s held three Governing Body meetings in public in different locations, all starting at 9am. The meetings give people a chance to see the CCG board in action and ask questions about its work.

“We’re already aware that some people think a 9am start is too early and that moving around the patch rather than meeting at a single fixed location is counterproductive – even though we advertise the meeting time and venue in the local papers and our website,” said Chris Dowse, Chief Officer of NHS North Kirklees CCG.

“So, we’re asking local people to get in touch and tell us what they think. If we did things differently, would they feel more able more able to come to our Governing Body meetings?  Are there other ways we could make it easier for people to be involved?  Can people suggest venues we don’t yet know about?”, she added.
